Meet Author Emmy Laybourne at McCully-Moiliili Library April 15
Come and meet Emmy Laybourne, author of the "Monument 14 Trilogy," at McCully-Moiliili Public Library on April 15 at 3 p.m. in the Auditorium.
"Monument 14", the story of 14 kids from Monument, Colo. trapped in a superstore as civilization collapses, was called "Frighteningly real . . . riveting" by The New York Times.
Laybourne, who resides outside New York City, is also a screenwriter, lyricist, and former character actress. She began her writing career as a playwright, and has also acted in movies (featured roles in "Nancy Drew", and others), television and improv groups, including Chicago City Limits. One of her plays, "Smorgas-Bourne," landed Laybourne a starring role in "Superstar," a Paramount feature film opposite Molly Shannon.
Laybourne will read an excerpt from her new book "Savage Drift" and conduct a Q & A session about writing strategies, Young Adult literature trends, and getting published. Fans of the series may bring their books for the author to sign.
Participants can enter a lucky drawing to win a copy of "Monument 14" which Laybourne will autograph. The Friends of McCully-Moiliili Library is sponsoring this one-hour program recommended for ages 12 and older.
Call the Library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed. McCully-Moiliili Public Library is located at 2211 South King Street. For more information, please call the Library at 973-1099.
