STEEL DRUM PERFORMANCE AT KAIMUKI LIBRARY

Kaimuki Public Library

Greg and Junko MacDonald will perform musical pieces representing a variety of genres, such as Latin, Hawaiian, calypso, classical, jazz, and vintage rock. They will also provide background information on the history of the steel drum. Greg and Junko have performed on the steel drums for fifteen years. They have performed at various Honolulu retail locations, on Hawaii Public Radio, and at major conventions. They have also been featured as the opening act for musicians like Harry Belafonte, Julio Iglesias, Jimmy Buffett, and Kenny Loggins. The duo have had three Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominations, eight Hawaii Music Awards, and one Grammy Award submission.

This one-hour program is suitable for ages 18 and older. CD recordings of the MacDonald's music will be available for purchase ($15 each) after the program and will be sold by the Friends of Kaimuki Public Library, the program's sponsor. Cash or checks only.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.
