About Kaimuki High School Foundation
Reaching our goals. The Foundation was created as a charitable foundation in 2001 to provide alumni and friends a way of helping to contribute to the development and growth of Kaimuki High School. The money that has been raised has assisted in providing technology, equipment, training and additional support for academic and extracurricular activities, programs, and projects that might otherwise not be available through the normal resources of the School. In order to continue to help Kaimuki High School, the Foundation solicits monetary and in kind donations, recruits volunteers, and holds an annual fundraiser in the Spring of each year.
Over the years, the generous donations of alumni, businesses, students, parents and faculty have helped to fund numerous projects, including :
- Funding to support the publication of the Bulldog, the student newspaper of Kaimuki High School.
- Funding for the Artists in Schools Grant which resulted in a student produced mural in the foyer of the Auditorium
- Spectrometers for the Chemistry classes
- Funds to subsidize the cost of Advance Placement Tests for students in need
- Funds and construction of the Library display case to house the woodwork donated to the School by a famed alumnus, the late Stewart Medeiros
- Funding to help the School start up the Business, Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Academys computer lab
- Funding to provide transportation for special needs students to marine science and environmental science projects
- Funding to help the School start up the Business, Science and Technology (BEST) Academys computer lab
- Funding to help Ohana O Mele, the Polynesian Music Program, put on its annual Christmas concert
- Funding for Every Fifteen Minutes and the Mock Car Crash, a very important effort on the part of Kaimuki
High School students to dramatize the dangers of underage drinking and driving.
With the continued help of current donors and volunteers, as well as the assistance of new contributors, the Foundation looks forward to assisting the faculty and administration in improving the educational environment and in making Kaimuki High School a school its students can all be proud to call our alma mater.
For class reunions, the Foundation will help you to communicate with your classmates by paying for the cost of your mailing when you include Foundation information with your mail-outs. You keep private your classmates address information but you help to spread the word about the Foundation. Please contact the Foundation for more information on this win-win mail-out program.
Helping the Kaimuki High School Community. Please join us in continuing to support the KHS Foundation. All of your donations, your volunteered time and your support of the KHS Foundation are helping to make a difference in the lives of the students, teachers and administrators at Kaimuki High School because they now enjoy a huge community of support. Please continue in your efforts to support the Foundation. And please, spread the word to your classmates and friends that there is an organization that is doing good things for Kaimuki High School and that the Foundation can use more help.
Collectively, we can all make a difference to positively affect the lives of those in our Kaimuki High School Community. Mahalo
