Kimo Hussey Honors ʻUkulele Makers in Atherton Studio Event, November 28
Pioneering ʻukulele artist and instructor Kimo Hussey presents a unique concert highlighting the ʻukulele and the luthiers who make them. On November 28 in HPR's intimate Atherton Studio, Hussey will discuss the cultural environment and craft that goes into the construction of a high-quality, custom instrument. He will accompany his talk with musical selections on two ʻukuleles created by Eric DeVine of DeVine Guitars and ʻUkuleles. Both instruments were previously displayed at the ʻUkulele Guild of Hawaiiʻs Annual Exhibition.
Tickets to this evening with ʻukulele master Kimo Hussey are $30 general, $25 for HPR members, and $15 for students with ID. Reservations may be made at www.hprtickets.org or by calling the station (955-8821) during regular business hours. The Atherton Studio is located at Hawaiʻi Public Radio, 738 Kāheka Street. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; the event begins at 7:30 p.m.
