The Art Explorium
Art Explorium provides a community art studio to nurture the creative potential in children. - Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely.
Extra Workshops During Spring Break
We have added two extra workshops this month for some special Spring Break fun:
Dance Painting
Friday, March 20th from 10:00-11:30am with Harmony Turner of HarmsaStar. We will be using our bodies-in-motion to "dance paint" on large scale paper. Discover your outer-movement artist with freestyle dancing, and your inner-movement artist with music-inspired drawing and choreography. $15, ages 5 & up.
Wire Sculptures
Wednesday, March 25th from 10:00-11:30am with Anna Leychenko. Join us to make fun and creative sculptures using wire, beads, driftwood, fabric, and all sorts of other Art Explorium materials. Students will learn the basics of sculpture and creating three dimensional works of art. We will sculpt people, friends, and even make family portraits! $15, ages 6 & up.
Extra Open Studios & An Awesome Guest Artist!
Many keiki will be out of school in the next couple weeks and ready for ART activities! Here are our regular Open Studio times:
- Mondays & Thursdays, 9am-12pm
- Mondays thru Fridays, 2pm-5pm
- Saturdays, 1pm-4pm
- Sundays, 10am-1pm (*NEW*)
In addition, we are offering two extra Open Studio sessions during Spring Break. Join us on:
- Wednesday, March 18, 9am-12pm
- Friday, March 27th, 9am-12pm
Guest Artist Alert!
AND on Tuesday, March 17 during Open Studio from 3:00-4:00pm, guest artist Ye Feng will be here showing keiki how to do Chinese calligraphy and brush painting. Don't miss out!
Open Studio is $5, no pre-registration required, just come on by!
`Eono: Innovation Game Cards
There are only a few spots left in our upcoming `Eono: Innovation Game Cards workshop series with artists Solomon Enos and Sousou Luteru. We are super excited for this opportunity to work with these artists and share their talent, friendship and aloha spirit with our community. We are offering this series in partnership with the Honolulu Biennial Foundation. Students will create their very own illustrated game cards and also contribute to a large collaborative mosaic while learning about unique innovations in Hawai`i's history. This three-part workshop will take place on Sundays: March 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 2:30-4:00pm. $50, ages 7 & up (students must sign up for all three classes).
Springtime Sewing
There are super fun upcoming sewing classes in our upstairs studio! Projects this month include adorable Pom-Pom Pillows, Stuffed Cubies, Pencil Cases and more! Classes are taught by our wonderful pals at ME+U Hawaii and are open to children ages 6 & up all the way to adults. March and April calendars of delightful projects for both beginner and intermediate students.
Sunday-Fundays!
Don't forget we are now offering Open Studio hours on Sundays from 10:00am-1:00pm! During Open Studio children (with a supervising adult) can drop in and participate in self-directed art exploration: Magnet wall, Trash-to-Treasure, Blocks, Chalkboard wall, and other art stations! It's always a good idea to check our Calendar for the most up-to-date information on our hours and events, but here are our regular Open Studio Hours:

Open Studio Hours
Drop by our studio for casual art fun! We set up the art stations and you & your kids can dabble in them. We change our stations weekly, putting out 2 new art activities each Wednesday
Mon, Tues AND Thurs, 9 am - 12 pm

Sat, 1 pm - 4 pm
$5 for each person participating. Drop-in, no pre-registration required.

Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely. We firmly believe that art experiences are an important part of every person's growth and development. So... WE provide the space and materials, YOU provide the ideas and make them happen!
Art Explorium strives to be an eco-friendly organization. Many of the art materials in our studio are items that would normally be thrown in the landfill (old pieces of fabric, used bottle caps, small boxes, magazines, ribbon, etc.). We collect these used materials from our friends and local businesses, and Art Explorium visitors give these items a new life as art.
We offer art classes, birthday parties, and field trips to our studio. We also offer Open Studio time - come on in with your family and dabble in one or all of our art stations which offer activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, making mosaics and more. See you there!

Come on by! During Open Studio time you are free to drop in, use our space and materials and explore the process of creating.
We also offer art classes, birthday parties and field trips to our studio!
