GOODWILL KAIMUKI STORE GETS MAKEOVER COURTESY OF THE HARRY AND JEANETTE WEINBERG FOUNDATION

New design will highlight local community; coincide with Goodwill Hawaii rebranding campaign

Thanks to the generosity of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and the creativity of 50|50 Agency, the Goodwill store in Kaimuki (3638 Waialae Ave.) is receiving a makeover to coincide with the rebranding campaign Goodwill Hawaii began in 2015. The new look seeks to provide a more friendly and open space while capturing a more "local" look and feel to align more closely with Hawaii's community.

"Over the past year we have been diligently working to incorporate more visual elements that convey the fact that we are Goodwill Hawaii and we are here to support Hawaii," said Katy Chen, Goodwill Hawaii's Chief Administrative Officer. "Ninety percent of our revenue goes directly back into Hawaii's community to help people find jobs via our programs and services and we feel that sometimes that didn't come across because Goodwill is perceived as a very large organization with international reach."

Goodwill Hawaii has been working hand in hand with 50|50 a local creative agency that has incorporated elements like Aloha shirts and other iconic Hawaii imagery and introduced a brighter color palette into designs. The new "look" is being used to update everything from the organization's business cards and company vehicles, to its newly launched website. The new designs will also eventually be rolled out to all of Goodwill Hawaii's program locations, donation centers, and stores on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.

"We are taking an economical approach to the revitalization of our stores so that we are able to duplicate it at all of our locations over time at a reasonably low cost. The hope is that people will be drawn to the new energy being created through this process, and the community will reacquaint themselves with Goodwill and get a better understanding of our mission in Hawaii," said Chen. "We are extremely grateful for the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation who supported the renovations of the first store as well as the creative input of 50|50 agency in making this revitalization effort a reality."

Over the next few weeks, the Kaimuki store will undergo renovations to enhance the store features for a fresh and modern look that will elevate the shopping experience. Renovations are expected to be complete by mid-March and Goodwill Hawaii will commemorate the redesigned store with a grand re-opening weekend beginning Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3, featuring special offers and prize giveaways for shoppers.

From July 2014 through June 2015, Goodwill Hawaii assisted more than 11,000 people statewide with job training and placement programs. Support for the programs comes from revenue generated from Goodwill Hawaii stores and contracted services like secure document destruction, janitorial and custodial services and more.

Goodwill also provides support programs for those with intellectual disabilities, at-risk youths, and employment core services for immigrants and families in need through seven program locations statewide. To learn more about Goodwill Hawaii, visit their new website at www.higoodwill.org.
