Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) proudly presents their 100th season opener, Mary Poppins! Due to strong demand for tickets, DHT has already added four performances to its regular run: October 17 (8:00 p.m.), October 18 (3:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m.) and October 19th (4:00 p.m.).

Playing "Mary Poppins," the nanny due to fly over DHT's stage is Tricia Marciel. Multi-talented guest artist David Spangenthal will direct, choreograph and play the role of "Bert" the chimney sweep. Camille Perry & Rylie Goto will be alternating in the role of "Jane Banks" and Luke Ellis & Matias Durkin will be alternating as "Michael Banks."

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Bert, a jack-of-all-trades including chimney sweep, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, Mary must teach the family how to value each other again.

Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, MARY POPPINS, includes a score filled with timeless classics such as "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Step in Time" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

Directed and choreographed by David Spangenthal, Mary Poppins will be playing from September 26 to October 19, 2014. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday -- Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, and Saturday matinees at 3 p.m. on October 4, 11 & 18.

Heralded as the "Broadway of the Pacific," Diamond Head Theatre has delivered the best live community theatrical entertainment since 1915. The theatre showcases Hawaii's finest local talent, frequently brings in guest artists, and supports performance arts education through a variety of community programs, including the acclaimed Shooting Stars program.
