HARMONY OF JAPAN: The Traditional Japanese Dance to Link Hawaii and Japan Forever
The Hawaii Gagaku Society, (Rev Masatoshi Shamoto, director), welcomes the renowned Fujima Takamasa of the Institute of Japanese Dance and Culture in a performance entitled "HARMONY OF JAPAN: THE TRADITIONAL JAPANESE DANCE TO LINK HAWAII AND JAPAN FOREVER" As part of the 150th Gannenmono Celebration, commemorating the anniversary of Japanese immigration to Japan, Fujima Takamasa will be performing traditional Japanese kabuki dance..

Music students: This event is eligible for Mus 199 recital attendance credit.

Dancing Melodies
Ensemble Nabi (visiting artists)

Comprised of four traditional musicians and two dancers, Korea's Ensemble Nabi will present a performance that fuses music and movement and blends the traditional and the contemporary. Included on the program are classics from the traditional repertoire and works by Geon-Yong Lee and UH faculty composers Thomas Osborne and Donald Reid Womack.
The troupe includes:
- Park Sung-Sin, gayageum
- Lim Ji-Won, gayageum
- Oh Byung-Og, daegeum
- Han Sung-Su, percussion
- Jung Yong-Jin, dancer
- Park Seo-Yeoun, dancer
