Back by popular demand, members of the world-renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam return to our stage for a command performance. Whether you enjoyed their concert with us two years ago or will see them for the first time, you’re sure to enjoy their inspiring, creative synergy. We’re honored to have this mixed string and wind chamber ensemble return to our small, intimate setting.

Jasmine Choi, flute
The Hawaii Flute Society presents two events with Jasmine Choi
Superstar flutist Jasmine Choi has performed across the globe in a variety of genres from classical solo, chamber, and orchestral to experimental, jazz, and pop. Her infinite curiosity has also led her to make her own arrangements of major works, including the Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky violin concertos, as well as performing world premieres of works composed by Daniel Dorff, Detlev Glanert, Texu Kim, Mark Laycock, Gary Schocker, Clint Needham, Uriel Vanchestein and Patrick Zimmerli, to name a few.

Five New Compositions for Unaccompanied Clarinet
A clarinet lecture-recital by Dr Olivia Meadows (guest artist)

Dr. Olivia Meadows will demonstrate extended techniques on the clarinet through five new works for solo clarinet, by Zachary Bush, Joshua Gottry, Kurt Mehlenbacher, Spencer Brand, and Eric Mandat.
Dr. Meadows is an active teacher and performer. She’s been honored to perform with ensembles including the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Hawaiian Band, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Boys Choir, and the top ensembles at ASU, and has held master classes with the Phoenix Youth Symphony and at the University of Central Arkansas, and performed lecture recitals at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Sacramento State University, and San Jose State University. In 2018, she won 2nd prize at the Arizona chapter of the National Society for Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition, and has performed world premieres of newly commissioned clarinet duos with her colleague and friend Shengwen Wu at the 2018 and 2019 International ClarinetFests. She currently teaches as Co-Curricular Faculty (Clarinet) at Punahou School and plays regularly with the Royal Hawaiian Band.
