LETTER REGARDING PARKING LOT #2
July 15, 2020
The Honorable Mayor Kirk Caldwell
Mr. Mark Yonemine, Director of Design and Construction
City Council Members
Honolulu Hale
Honolulu, HI 96813
Aloha,
The Kaimuki Neighborhood Board #4 passed, unanimously, the resolution at its last meeting on June 17, 2020 titled Resolution Relating To Scheduling Of Proposed Re-Paving Of The Kaimuki Municipal Metered Parking Lot #2 Bounded By Koko Head, Waialae, Harding And 12th Avenues. (Attached to this letter)
After hearing from Mr. Yonemine at that same meeting that the starting date for construction will be on January 11, 2021 we were all glad to hear that there is a firm starting date.
However, at present the construction at Ala Moana has stopped. The contractor is the same as the one who is scheduled to do the Kaimuki #2 Parking Lot. We as a board are respectfully asking if the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) can commence the construction of the Kaimuki #2 Parking Lot as soon as possible during this stoppage at Ala Moana Park.
We would also appreciate representation from the DDC at our monthly Kaimuki Neighborhood Board meeting to update us on the progress of construction. Because the construction will be impacting a number of our businesses we would also appreciate a plan and timeline presented to our community so that alternate parking can be found in due time.
Mahalo,
Sharon Schneider, Chair
Kaimuki Neighborhood Board #4
