Kenny Endo and Taiko Center of the Pacific
Hosted by Friends of Mānoa Library
A master of contemporary percussion and rhythm at the vanguard of the taiko genre, Kenny Endo continues to explore new possibilities for this ancient Japanese instrument. A performer, composer, and teacher of taiko, he has received numerous awards, accolades, and a natori (a stage name in classical drumming). Kenny is a consummate artist, blending taiko with original music through collaborations with international artists.

October 2
Versatile jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and music director Tommy James leads an all-star ensemble of local jazz musicians including Dean Taba (bass), Darryl Pellegrini (drums), DeShannon Higa (trumpet), and Reggie Padilla (tenor sax).

October 9
Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra musicians Iggy Jang (Concertmaster) and Sung Chan Chang (Associate Principal cellist) join pianist Jonathan Korth in an evening of trios and classical music gems.

Guitar, Ukulele, and Bass
October 16
Musicians Jeff Peterson, Benny Chong, Ian O’Sullivan and Nathan Aweau bring their guitar, ukulele, bass and vocal talents to perform classical, jazz, Hawaiian and music from other parts of the world.

Taiko
October 23
Kenny Endo and Taiko Center of the Pacific will present an evening of traditional and contemporary pieces. Special invited guests Noel Okimoto, Dean Taba, Todd Yukumoto, and SheenRu Yong will join them in the performance.

The fall concert series is a joint effort between UH Mānoa Outreach College, UH Mānoa Music Department, East-West Center Arts Program, and Friends of Mānoa Library.

When retired UH Lecturer Tom Carpenter passed away, his sister Janet Carpenter chose to honor him by establishing the Tom F. Carpenter Memorial Fund.
