Morning Storytime

Join us for storytelling, dancing, and a small craft.  Appropriate for ages 3+
We may occasionally replace storytime with an age-appropriate program.

Enjoy playing the challenging game of chess every day during library hours (except Saturdays and state holidays) at Kaimuki Public Library! We have several chess sets and boards available for public use in the library on a first come, first serve basis.
All experience levels are welcome to play. Sorry, but no chess instruction will be provided.  Young children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  Please see an Adult Reference Desk staff member or contact the Adult Reference Desk at (808) 733-8422 for more information.

Four Simple Packages: Eco-Friendly Adult Craft Workshop

Get ready for the holiday season and have fun doing it! Learn how to create four practical, simple packages for Halloween treats, party favors, or small gifts using commonly discarded papers in this 90-minute workshop by local eco-crafter Evelyn Nakamura.
All craft supplies will be provided. Please bring your own shoe box or medium sized gift/shopping bag with handle to carry your samples home.  This program is suitable for young adults and adults.  Space is limited.  You may reserve a spot by either calling 808-733-8422 or signing up in person at the Adult Reference Desk.

Hanafuda Game Time!

Come and play Hanafuda with your fellow community members!  We have several hanafuda packs available during the program for those who wish to play, on a first come, first serve basis.  Meet new friends, challenge yourself, and have fun! For those who learned how to play Hanafuda from Helen Nakano and her Sensei, now you can practice those skills in a game!
This will be a a self-directed play time, and no instructions will be given.  Although we will have sheets of instructions for those who wish to learn more about this wonderful game.  All experience levels are welcome to play!  Please note that young children must be accompanied by an adult.  For more information please contact us at: (808)733-8422 or ask at the Kaimukī Public Library Adult Reference Desk.

Stuffies’ Sleepover!

You’re invited!!  Your stuffy (Stuffed animal) is invited to stay overnight at the library! They will enjoy a whole weekend of activities and don’t worry, we will take so many pictures for you to see!
You can drop off your stuffy friends at the Reference Desk and pick them up from us at our regularly scheduled, but Stuffy-Themed Storytime on Sunday, October 13 at 10:30am. (Be warned: they might need a nap that afternoon!)
Due to our limited space, we will only be accepting one stuffy per person.  Registration is recommended for this program, please remember that we close at 6:00pm on Thursday. To register please see the reference desk, or call our library at (808)733-8422.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

The Spengler family returns to where it all started, the iconic New York City firehouse, to team up with the original Ghostbusters gang, who have developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient relic unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
This movie is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).  Parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.  Contains scenes of supernatural action/violence, language and suggestive references.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.
