Graduate Recital by:
Composer Jessica Ackerley, student of Dr. Takuma Itoh
A 50-minute whole new body of work inspired by Ackerley's time in Svalbard, Norway this past summer for the Arctic Circle Residency. This work highlights empathy towards the Arctic’s ecosystems and animals amongst the extensive history of abuse of its resources, as well as exploring the narrative threads of the human sacrifices made for the means of others wealth.

Composer Mieke Doezema, student of Dr. Takuma Itoh
Mieke J. Doezema is a composer and educator born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and based in Washington state. She will be performing her most recent work completed during her graduate studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa exploring the synthesis between music and movement through collaborations with dancers and martial artists.
