Established in 1983 by James Nutter, Island Recycling, Inc. (IRI) has grown to be the largest multi-commodity recycling company in Hawaii. Our Corporate Office/Main Yard is located on almost 8 acres in Campbell Industrial Park in Kapolei on Oahu, IRI specializes in accepting/collecting recyclable materials, then segregating, packaging and shipping these materials to end-users in Asia and the West Coast. Through the years, IRI has built a reputation of being dependable, fair and innovative.

Open 7 days per week, IRI currently accepts waste paper, cardboard, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal, appliances, and plastic at its facility from hundreds of commercial, industrial, governmental and residential customers.

Since the initiation of the State s HI-5 Redemption program in 2005, IRI has increased customer convenience as well as its volume of beverage container recycling by establishing free-standing State certified redemption centers, the first on Dillingham Blvd. in Kalihi, the second in Nanakuli the third in Kaimuki on Waialae Ave., and our Main Location in the Campbell Industrial Park. IRI is planning to open more centers in the near future.
IRI is the third largest exporter in the State, shipping out nearly 300 containers carrying approximately 6,000 tons, of material per month, or more than 70,000 tons per year. IRI has developed strong, long-term relationships with its end-users, garnering top prices for its recyclable material because of the high volume it ships. This allows IRI to pay higher rebates to its customers, providing incentive for them to continue to recycle.
