2012 Kaimuki Library Summer Programs And Events

Children's Storytimes will be conducted on the following Sundays: 6/3, 6/10, 6/17, 6/24, 7/1, 7/8; children ages 7 and under, accompanied by parent or caregiver, are invited.
Kaimuki Public Library will offer special events to celebrate the 2012 HSPLS Summer Reading Programs from June - July. The events are suitable for all ages unless otherwise noted; admission is free:
- June 3 at 10:30 a.m. - "Storytime" with special guest Lani Moo; ages 7 and under
- June 10 at 2:00 p.m. - "Kempo Self-Defense" Watch Instructor Brian Wong and students from Kaimuki Kempo demonstrate self-defense techniques for children, teens and adults. Suitable for ages 5 and over.
- June 20 at 3:30 p.m. - "Mask Making with Yukie Shiroma" Make 3-dimensional masks with acclaimed dancer and mask-maker Yukie Shiroma. Registration required. Suitable for all ages.
- June 24 at 2:30 p.m. - "Feng Shui for Hawaii's Gardens" Expert Clear Englebert will discuss energy flow around your house. Suitable for adults.
- July 1 at 2:00 p.m. - "Sandra Wong String Studio presents a Summer Concert" Students from the studio will perform music from the movies and more. Suitable for all ages.
- July 8 at 2:00 p.m. - "Ohana Arts Music and Theatre" Watch students from the Ohana Arts Performing Arts Festival and School perform original music and musical theatre numbers. Suitable for all ages.
In addition, Kaimuki Public Library will conduct its annual Children's, Teen, and Adult Summer Reading Programs from June 3 through July 12. All programs and special events are free; contact the library for details.

Children's Summer Reading Program
FOR INFANTS TO STUDENTS IN GRADE 6
JUNE 3 TO JULY 12, 2012
AT ALL HAWAII PUBLIC LIBRARIES
(Registration begins on May 29th)
Children are invited to visit their local library, read at least one book per week and received a free reading incentive, while supplies last. Hawaii's public libraries will provide free fun programs and activities encouraging young readers to revel in the wonders of night-dreams, lullabies, bedtime and campfire stories, as well as ghosts, nocturnal animals, and star-gazing!
The five-week program will also feature excellent, family-friendly storytelling performances statewide by mainland and local artists. Performances are currently being finalized and a schedule will be posted online soon.

Hawaii's public libraries will provide free fun programs and activites encouraging teens to revel in the wonders of night -- dreams, mysteries, suspense and campfire stories, nocturnal animals, jobs and careers involving night-shifts, astronomy and star-gazing!
The five-week program will also feature family-friendly performances statewide by mainland and local artists. Participating teens may also enter to win an Apple iPod Shuffle and other great prizes.
