WHO WE ARE

Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the isla bonita de Oahu (the beautiful island of Oahu), Sol Spanish School offers a variety of Spanish classes for all ages and levels. Sol has a gran selection of classes to choose from in different parts of Oahu, but if you don't see what you are looking for, let us know and we may be able to create a class that's perfecta for you.

All our teachers are fluent Spanish speakers with teaching experience.

SOL TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Sol means "sun" in Spanish. The WARM, CHEERFUL, ENERGETIC, ROUNDED, & REALISTIC nature of the sun represent the Spanish classes we offer at Sol Spanish School.

WARM

Sol Spanish School agrees that everyone learns best in small, intimate, welcoming classes that provide plenty of encouragement and teacher time to maximize learning. For this reason, our classes usually have a maximum of 10 children and are taught by warm, caring teachers who are either native Spanish-speakers or fluent Spanish-speakers who have lived in a Spanish-speaking country.

CHEERFUL

Sol Spanish School offers a variety of Spanish langauge classes for children of all ages and levels (and for adults too, coming this fall!). We feel language learning should be fun so all of our classes, from baby to adult, use games, activities, crafts, and culture to teach Spanish. Our classes are perfect for families who want to expose their children to Spanish or for parents who may speak Spanish but may not have taught their chidren.

ENERGETIC

Sol Spanish School knows that students learn better when they are engaged both physically and intellectually. We also know that everyone learns differently. We prefer our students work with the language in a variety of ways to facilitate learning. Our manipulatives and artifacts are best for kinesthetic/tactile learners. Our practice sheets appeal to students who learn best by reading and writing. Our original songs, stories, and role plays appeal to auditory learners. Above all, our classes are full of energy and fun!

WELL-ROUNDED

Sol Spanish School classes are taught thematically, creating well-rounded learners by addressing all of the major topics in Spanish. Because of this, students can join classes at any time. Our after-school classes run for a semester, allowing children to start at the beginning of any semester. Families can stop by ANY Playdates in the Park or Spanish Stories & Songs classes at ANY time. Every child's first Playdate or Stories & Songs class is COMPLIMENTARY, so come check us out!

REALISTIC

Sol Spanish School believes that all foreign language clasess should incorporate authentic materials into lessons. Using authentic materials ensures students learn useful, real language. To achieve this goal, we travel to a different Spanish-speaking country every summer to purchase materials and create original lessons for our students. Most of our materials can only be found overseas and the majority of our songs and activities are created solely for our lessons.

CLASSES AND SERVICES

After School Spanish Class at Wai'alae Elementary

Our convenient after-school Spanish classes are held right after school at your child's or neighborhood school. These creative classes introduce students to basic Spanish themes & culture through playing, singing & crafts.

Ages: Recommended for ages 5-10

Date and Time: Call Tuesdays 2:30-3:15 PM or Tuesdays 3:30-4:15 PM

Cost: $140 for the 14-week session

Baby/Toddler Playdates in Paki Park Spanish Class

Our Spanish Playdates in the Park are interactive Spanish classes full of songs, games, and activities in an active, outdoor setting. Contact us to try out a complimentary playdate class!

Ages: Recommended for ages 0-5

Date and Time: Wednesdays 9:00-9:45

Cost: 12 playdates for $100 punchcard (may be used for multiple children, available from the teacher) or $10/class

Adult Intermediate Conversation Spanish Class

Our adult intermediate-level conversation class focuses on building Spanish fluency and vocabulary. These classes are perfect if you've studied some Spanish before but forgotton it or if you just need a referesher before a trip.

Ages: adult

Date and Time: Tuesdays 6-7PM

Cost: 12 class for $100 punchcard (may be used for multiple students, available from the teacher) or $10/class

Windward Children's Spanish Classes

Sol Spanish is planning our 1st Spanish class on the Windward side! We are still working out the day and times, so contact us and tell us what time works best for you!

Our Spanish classes for young children incorporate music, crafts, and games into weekly themed Spanish lessons. Parents are welcome, but not required, to stay for class.

Ages: Recommended for ages 1-10

Going on a trip? Need Spanish for business? Need help with your Spanish class at school? Try our intensive private lessons and tutoring. We offer private lessons / tutoring for all ages and levels for individuals, small groups up to 4 students, and families. We tailor our lessons to fit your needs. Tell us what you are looking for and we'll create a program specifically for you.

Cost: $40 for each 1-hour session, $35/hour for a 2-hour session, $30/hour for ten (10) 2-hour sessions ($600 total)

Children's Field Trip Private Spanish Lessons

Your child learns Spanish in an intensive private lesson while visiting the zoo, aquarium, shopping mall, etc. Fieldtrips give your child the opportunity to learn realistic language in context, while also enjoying some of Oahu's favorite spots. Field trips last for 2 hours.

Ages: toddler through adult

Date and Time: you choose

Cost: $80 for each 2-hour field trip, $300 for four (4) 2-hour field trips, $700 for ten (10) 2-hour field trips. Includes admission, materials, instruction, and snack for up to 2 students.

EnglishTutoring, ESL classes, Writing classes We also offer private adult and children's ESL (English as a Second Language) lessons, children's writing lessons, and private tutoring: $40 for each 1-hour session, $35/hour for a 2-hour session, $30/hour for ten (10) 2-hour sessions ($600 total). You can form a group of up to 4 students.
