• Waikiki Community Center Announces An Ancestral Expedition Nov. 16, 2012

Keaiwa Heiau, Kaena Point and Temple Valley Byodo-in Temple on Nov. 16, 2012 from 8 am to 5 pm



Cost to members; $20 and $25 for non-members (no host lunch)

Visit the serene Keaiwa Heiau, atop the Aiea Heights. Continuing to Kaena State Park, a wildlife sanctuary and to a no host lunch at Jamieson's by the Sea in Haleiwa. We will return via the windward coast and stop in Temple Valley at the Byodin Temple, home to Amida, a golden Buddha that is over 9 feet tall.

Safety precautions. Must be physically fit and capable of independently ambulating for over two miles on rough, steep inclines and uneven terrain. Must wear closed toed shoes, wear sunscreen and bring water. This excursion is partially subsidized from a grant to WCC for the kupuna of Honolulu. So participants must be at least 60 years of age and a resident of Hawaii. Proof of age and residency is required.
