FRIENDSHIP GARDEN Do you recognize these cute critters? They enjoy the library's Friendship Garden, located by the drive-through book drop. The garden's recent beautification is from the loving attention of the Kimura family as an ʻIolani School community service project. Take a look and be a friend! |

PROGRAMS |

FREE LIBRARY PROGRAM, LILIʻUOKALANI'S HE LEI, HE ALOHA "This Is A Lei Of Love" celebrates the enduring legacies of Queen Liliʻuokalani--her music, love of homeland and complete dedication to the people. Meleanna Aluli Meyer, artist, educator, filmmaker and descendant of Emma Nawahi, confidante of the queen, will narrate. This free, 45-minute participatory program includes community readings* from the Queen's autobiography Hawaiʻi's Story by Hawaiʻi's Queen, a 7-minute vignette inspired by the Queen, and a sing-along of some of the Queen's music. Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the adult reading room. *Be a volunteer reader for this program! Ask at the reference desk for more information. |

A library card gives access to e-books, online homework help and other tools they need to succeed. September is Library Card Sign-up Month. SUNDAY STORYTIMES @ KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY Our Sunday Storytime is here! Children age 7 and under are invited to listen to fun stories and make quick and easy craft projects. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. If you need a sign language interpreter, please call the library at least 2 weeks prior to the program. |

NEWS FROM THE FRIENDS of KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY MEDIA POP-UP SALE RESULTS Over $500--that's what the Friends of Kaimuki Public Library made at their Third Fridays Kaimuki media only pop-up sale in August! Mahalo to all who worked at and attended this fun event. Watch here for the next pop-up sale date and selection. ******JOIN US FOR THE NEXT GENERAL MEETING****** The public is invited to the general membership meeting on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Young Adult area (the green room). Come join the fun and learn how to volunteer to support the library. |

About Kaimuki Public Library
The mission of the Hawaii State Public Library System is to provide Hawaii's residents, in all walks of life, and at each stage of their lives, with access to education, information, programs and services, and to teach and nurture the love of reading and the habit of life-long learning.

Sun - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Mon - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Tues - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Wed. - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Thurs.- 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Fri- 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (beginning 12/7/2012)
Sat & State Holidays - Closed
Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.

On person with library material or call 733-8422, then press "0" -- have your library material with you when calling. For online renewals, use www.librarieshawaii.org and "my account" and your library card no.
