PROGRAMS @ KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY
SUNDAY STORYTIMES CONTINUE Every Sunday, 10:30 a.m. Children accompanied by a parent or caregiver can listen to stories, participate in finger plays and rhymes, and make and take home a small craft to remember the day's stories. All Storytimes this month have a Halloween theme! |
OKINAWAN DANCE Fall Break Program Sunday, October 6, 2013, 2:00 p.m. Mensoree! Welcome! Sing along with music by Jimpu Kai USA, directed by Cheryl Yoshie Nakasone. This Okinawan performing arts group brings their music and dance to the library. Enjoy numbers ranging from traditional folk dances to the classical art of kumiwudui, the dance-drama performed for the kings of Ryukyu in old Okinawa, and to colorful, contemporary dances with taiko. |
SLACK KEY with JEFF PETERSON Monday, October 21, 2013, 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a free 45-minute concert in the library's Green Room with world class local musician Jeff Peterson. Born on Maui, Jeff was introduced to the rich heritage of Hawaiian music by his paniolo father on the Haleakalā Ranch. His focus on slack key guitar and classical and jazz music has allowed him to develop a unique and transcendent voice on the guitar while being deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. Don't miss this special engagement! |
BANNED BOOK DISPLAY CONTINUES Celebrate your freedom to read; visit the Banned Book Display in the Green Room. Learn what a banned or challenged book is, and find out if you read banned books. |
