Hawaii's Public Libraries will Observe Presidents Day Holiday

Hawaii's Public Libraries Observe Good Friday Holiday and Easter; Internet Access Upgrade Will Shut down Website and All Services

All public libraries will be closed on Friday, April 18 in observance of the Good Friday 2014 Holiday and on Sunday, April 20 for Easter. Four libraries normally closed on Fridays will also be closed on Saturday, April 19: Aiea, Hawaii Kai, Liliha, and Makawao (Maui).

Twenty-four public libraries will be open on Saturday, April 19:

Oahu - Aina Haina, Hawaii State Library, Kailua, Kalihi-Palama, Kapolei, Manoa, McCully-Moiliili, Mililani, Salt Lake-Moanalua, Wahiawa, Waialua, Waianae, Waikiki-Kapahulu, Waimanalo, Waipahu;

Big Island - Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Kealakekua, Thelma Parker;

Kauai - Hanapepe, Princeville;

Maui - Kahului, Kihei, and Lahaina.

On the Good Friday Holiday (April 18), all library services, including our website, will be unavailable due to an upgrade to our Internet access. This upgrade will increase the Internet speed of our nearly 800 public computers, which is a very popular service. In FY 2013, the number of Internet sessions conducted via library computers, increased by 11 percent, to 668,625.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.

Loan Renewals:
On person with library material or call 733-8422, then press "0" -- have your library material with you when calling. For online renewals, use www.librarieshawaii.org and "my account" and your library card no.
