PROGRAMS @ KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY

SPOOKY STORIES

Daniel A. Kelin, II, Director of Drama Education with the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, will present spooky stories in the Young Adult Room on Monday, October 27, at 6:00 p.m.--just in time for Halloween! Recommended for ages 9 and up. Sponsored by Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi. If necessary, please call the library as soon as possible to request a sign-language interpreter or other special accommodations.

SUNDAY STORY TIMES

Story time will be every Sunday, from September 7 through December 14, at 10:30 a.m. Listen to stories and make crafts. Children through age 7 accompanied by an adult are welcome. Please call the library 2 weeks prior to the program to request a sign-language interpreter if needed.

STEEL DRUM CONCERT IN NOVEMBER--MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Learn about the history of the steel drum and enjoy music of various genres performed by 15-year veteran steel-drum players Greg and Junko MacDonald in the Adult Reading Area on Sunday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m. CD recordings of the MacDonalds' music will be available for purchase ($15.00, cash or check) with the assistance of the event's sponsor, Friends of Kaimuki Public Library.

FRIENDS OF KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING

Friends of Kaimuki Public Library (FKPL) will hold a general membership meeting in the Young Adult Room (Green Room) on Monday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. The next FKPL book sale will be discussed.

NATIONAL FRIENDS OF LIBRARIES WEEK

The week of October 19 is National Friends of Libraries Week. During that week, let's take the time to thank the Friends of Kaimuki Public Library (FKPL) board members and general members for their hard work in supporting the library and show our support by joining or volunteering.

Any time you use the stapler or tape, sit on an upholstered chair, or attend a library performance, remember the hard-working FKPL volunteers and officers (President Lori Yamada, Vice President Christina Tom, Secretary Jan Bullock, Treasurer Alyssa Calasicas, and Director Geraldine DeBenedetti).

COMPUTER TUTORIALS

Sign up at the reference desk for Friday-morning (10:00 a.m., 1 hour max) tutorials in essential computer use, e-mail, surfing the Web, Microsoft Office basics, or any other elementary computer-use topic of your choice.

WIKIWIKI VOTER REGISTRATION

It's election time. Pick up your Wikiwiki Voter Registration & Permanent Absentee and Wikiwiki Absentee Application next to the public photocopier or at the reference desk.

Mon & Tue 10 am -- 8 pm

Wed & Thu 10 am -- 6 pm

Friday 1 pm -- 5 pm

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.

Loan Renewals:
On person with library material or call 733-8422, then press "0" -- have your library material with you when calling. For online renewals, use www.librarieshawaii.org and "my account" and your library card no.
