Library Needs Adult Volunteers to Help with Recording Program
The Library for the Blind & Physically Handicapped (LBPH), a branch library of the Hawaii State Public Library System and a regional library for the National Library Service for the Blind & Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress, is seeking adult volunteers to assist with their popular recording program.
Narrators are needed to read and record local books in their entirety. An audition is required.
The ability to read local dialect, Hawaiian, Asian, and other languages as necessary is required.
In addition, LBPH is accepting applications for the Radio Reading Service program, an "on air" live program conducted during the Library's public service hours.
All recordings are taped in the Library and during public service hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Applicants must be able to complete assignments in a timely manner. There will be continuous recruitment for both of these programs until the needs are met.
The Library for the Blind & Physically Handicapped is located at 402 Kapahulu Avenue, behind the Waikiki-Kapahulu Public Library. For more information, or to request an application, please call the Library at 733-8444.
