Here is a chronological list of all the upcoming special events in the next few weeks - take a look and hopefully you will find something that appeals to you and your keiki!
- Story Time! This Thursday, December 18 from 10:30-11:00 am. Stop by during Open Studio for some extra special Story Time fun! We will read books, make a holiday collage and play with shaving cream b/c the kids had so much fun doing that last time! Regular $5 rate applies, no pre-registration required.
- Double Fun for Friday Evening We will be at 2 locations this Friday, December 19 in the evening. We will offer late Open Studio for Third Fridays Kaimuki so stop by our regular studio between 2:00-5:00 pm ($5). Guest artist Evelyn Nakamura will be here helping us make adorable ornaments from old calendars. And from 5:30-7:00 pm we will also be doing free art activities at Kaimuki Superette in conjunction with Kokua Hawaii Foundation's Let's Pickle It Workshop!
- Natural Holiday Decorations Workshop There are still spaces left in this Sunday's Natural Holiday Decorations Workshop with amazing teacher and artist Malia Lagaso. Experience the beauty and joy of nature while making gorgeous creations from our own backyards. Sunday, December 21, 2:30-4:00 pm, $15, ages 5 & up.
- Calling All Little Artists! Get ready to Sparkle and Shine in this workshop for our youngest artist friends ages 2-5 on Tuesday, December 23 from 9:30-10:30 am. Keiki will experience lots of movement, sensory experiences, singing, and puppetry! $15. We are offering our Little Artists workshops every Tuesday morning so while you're visiting our web site take a look at what else is coming up.
- Two Extra Holiday Workshops We are adding two special Friday morning workshops during the holiday break when keiki are out of school: Australian Aboriginal Dot Painting is a unique and beautiful painting technique that appeals to children of all ages. Friday, December 26, 10:00-11:30am, $15, ages 5 & up. And in our Lauhala Weaving Workshop keiki will learn about the hala tree's many uses and will weave a bracelet to take home. Friday, January 2, 2015, 10:00-11:30am, $15, ages 7 & up
Open Studio Updates
Drop by our studio for casual art fun! We set up the art stations and you & your kids can dabble in them. We change our stations weekly, putting out 2 new art activities each Wednesday.

Featured Workshops
Sculpture: Build a Monster After School Art Series
Thursdays in December 4th, 11th, and 18th from 4pm-5:30pm
$50 for the series (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
In this three-day session, students create their own monster creation. On the first two days, using clay, students learn sculpting fundamentals through pinching, coiling, and slab-making to create the monsters' bodies, and use press molds to make eyes, legs and other appendages to personalize the creature. On the third day, students paint their monsters with acrylic paint. Registration is required.
Ongoing Tuesday Little Artist Classes
Tuesday mornings, 9:30am-10:30am
$15 per child (Ages 2-5)

Joins us for classes specialized for children ages 2-5 years old. We focus on movement, dance, music, and art that will fully engage your child and open them up to the world of art around them. Each class has different art projects and themes. Registration is required.
Seasons Greetings Collage and Watercolor Cards
Sunday, December 7th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per child (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
Let your kids have fun in designing and creating their own beautiful and individual mixed media greeting cards. Explore and learn more about collage (artform, cut and paste) and different watercolor techniques like wet on wet and wax resist. Mix cut papers, flowing paints and recycled materials to create unique handmade cards to take home. Registration is required.
Twig Weaving
Sunday, December 14th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
We will explore different shapes and forms that we can create using twigs from nature, then string them together to create a small loom. Using our loom we will weave different patterns into the warp to create a final work of art. Registration is required.
Natural Holiday Decorations
Sunday, December 21st. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up)

Reduce your holiday waste by creating fun decorations from your own backyard! Children will experience the joy and beauty of nature while having fun making their own creations. These can be used to adorn gifts, hang in your home, or give as a gift to friends. Registration is required.
Third Friday at the Art Explorium
Friday, December 19th. 5pm-8pm
$5 per child (All Ages)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
Every 3rd Friday we are open extra late for the creative night owls. This Friday we will be making holiday gift bags from envelopes. No registration necessary
Australian Aboriginal Painting
Friday, December 26th. 10am-11:30am
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
Using pencils, tempera paint, paintbrushes, and paper, students will learn different painting techniques to create vivid patterns, people, and animals indigenous to Australia using the same color palette as the traditional paintings. Registration is required.
Mixed Media Animal Worlds
Sunday, December 28th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Koko Head Ave
Learn the basics of sculpting in this interactive workshop and learn about working with 3-D art! Students will make sculptures of animals of their choice using a self drying clay. They will also be painting, gluing, cutting and creating an imaginary world for their animals to live in.

Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely. We firmly believe that art experiences are an important part of every person's growth and development. So... WE provide the space and materials, YOU provide the ideas and make them happen!
Art Explorium strives to be an eco-friendly organization. Many of the art materials in our studio are items that would normally be thrown in the landfill (old pieces of fabric, used bottle caps, small boxes, magazines, ribbon, etc.). We collect these used materials from our friends and local businesses, and Art Explorium visitors give these items a new life as art.
We offer art classes, birthday parties, and field trips to our studio. We also offer Open Studio time - come on in with your family and dabble in one or all of our art stations which offer activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, making mosaics and more. See you there!

Come on by! During Open Studio time you are free to drop in, use our space and materials and explore the process of creating.
We also offer art classes, birthday parties and field trips to our studio!
