Project Runway's Kini Zamora Partners with Goodwill
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii is excited to announce local designer Kini Zamora will be lending his design and fashion talents in support of Goodwill's nonprofit mission at this year's Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by Bank of Hawaii Foundation. Fresh off the latest season of the reality TV show Project Runway, Zamora will be producing the Fashion Show at the annual event's Gala Night held July 16, 2015 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
"We are just so appreciative of Kini for donating his time and talents to support Goodwill and bring awareness to our mission," said Laura Smith, President/CEO of Goodwill. "We are also very excited to see what Kini will do at this year's fashion show."
Zamora has kept himself busy since the finale of Project Runway aired, balancing newfound attention with his current fashion company, KINIandDINKO and also starting his own fashion lines, KZ Hawaii and Kini Zamora. Despite his busy schedule, Zamora is excited for the chance to blend fashion with his philanthropic efforts.
"This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and working with Goodwill on this Fashion Show is such a great fit," stated Zamora. "Coming from a low-income background, I'm happy to be able to support Goodwill, who helps so many people get back on their feet by helping them get jobs."
This will be the fourth year of Goodwill Goes GLAM! presented by Bank of Hawaii Foundation, an annual event which raises awareness of Goodwill's mission. The four-day event held at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall features the exclusive Gala Night on July 16, 2015, followed by three Gala Sale Days which are open to the public, July 17-19, 2015.

About Goodwill
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation that helps people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient.
Since 1959, we have provided job placement, career development, education, training, employment and support services for people throughout the state. Over 10,000 Hawaii residents each year have benefitted from Goodwill's services, and thousands have found employment in our community.
Philosophy
For more than 100 years, Goodwill Industries has championed a philosophy of community service through the power of work. In 1902, the founder of this philosophy, Reverend Edgar J. Helms, a Methodist Minister, took burlap bags into Boston's wealthier neighborhoods collecting donations. He invited community residents with disabilities and other disadvantages to help repair and sell the donations and used the revenue made through the sales to pay the workers. This philosophy is evident throughout Hawaii's Goodwill, and in Goodwills throughout the world.
Goodwill Industries International
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii (GIH) is an autonomous, dues-paying member of Goodwill Industries International, a growing network of Goodwill organizations throughout the world. There are currently 183 full member Goodwill organizations in the United States and Canada. Since the organization's founding in 1902, Goodwill has helped more than 9 million people. Globally, Goodwill Industries International announced its 21st Century Initiative to serve 20 million people by the year 2020.
Goodwill Leadership and Accreditation
Goodwill is led by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of civic and business leaders from the community. Goodwill has been fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for more than 30 years, and is certified by NISH. Goodwill maintains active membership in the National Rehabilitation Association, Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations, Retail Merchants of Hawaii, Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, Aloha United Way, Hawaii Employers Council, West Oahu Economic Development Association, and the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce.
Funding and Revenue
Goodwill is rare among not-for-profit agencies because most of its revenue is earned. Our unique, self-sustaining system enables us to serve thousands in Hawaii each year.
Goodwill Industries of Hawaii is funded through:
- Retail sales at our community stores
- Service contracts (in competition with private enterprise)
- City, state and federal job training grants
- Support from individuals and corporations
