The Art Explorium
Art Explorium provides a community art studio to nurture the creative potential in children. - Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely.
Finish Your Summer the Creative Way!
Summer is flying by, but we still have a lot of great workshops on various days and times to keep your kids engaged and creative.
If you are still out of school check out some of our Wednesday morning art classes:
- Found Object Collage: Wednesday, August 12th, 9:30am-11am, $15, ages 6 & up. Create a colllage using found objects! We will gather different objects and put them all together to create our final project inspired by artist Louise Nevelson. After assembling we will paint our collages.
- Creative Indian Dance: Wednesday, August 19th, 9:30am-11am, $15, ages 5 & up. Students will learn basic movements from the traditional dance form of Kuchipudi. They will learn different Mudras (hand guestures) and how to apply them in dancing. Students will also get to make their own ankle bells to take home and practice with.
After School Art
Back in school already? No worries, check out our After School Art classes that happen every Thursday from 4pm-5:30pm, $15 per class, ages 7 and up:
Travel the World Through Art: On our journey around the world we will explore art from Polynesia, Asia, and Africa. How do you create mysterious landscapes with just black and white? Are there meanings in Polynesian tattoos? We will draw, paint with tempera, experiment with color mixing, composition, tints and shades, lines and shapes and cover the basic elements of art. After school Art instructor Regina Bode is a painter and printmaker who also teaches classes at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
Also, Open Studio is always a great option if you just want to check out our studio and get a feel for what we do. Stop by during Open Studio times and get your creative juices flowing for only $5! No pre-registration required. Take a look at our Calendar to see our Open Studio schedule. We change two of our art activities every Wednesday, and post the new activities on our Facebook Page so you always know the latest.
* Creative Reuse Artist Aunty Lani will be here doing a special activity on Monday, July 27 from 10am-12pm! Come by and make and decorate adorable blueberry baskets in honor of National Blueberry Month.

Open Studio Hours
Drop by our studio for casual art fun! We set up the art stations and you & your kids can dabble in them. We change our stations weekly, putting out 2 new art activities each Wednesday
Mon, Tues AND Thurs, 9 am - 12 pm
Mon thru Fri, 2 pm - 5 pm
Sat, 1 pm - 4 pm
Sunday Open Studio hours from 10am-1pm
$5 for each person participating. Drop-in, no pre-registration required.

Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely. We firmly believe that art experiences are an important part of every person's growth and development. So... WE provide the space and materials, YOU provide the ideas and make them happen!
Art Explorium strives to be an eco-friendly organization. Many of the art materials in our studio are items that would normally be thrown in the landfill (old pieces of fabric, used bottle caps, small boxes, magazines, ribbon, etc.). We collect these used materials from our friends and local businesses, and Art Explorium visitors give these items a new life as art.
We offer art classes, birthday parties, and field trips to our studio. We also offer Open Studio time - come on in with your family and dabble in one or all of our art stations which offer activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, making mosaics and more. See you there!

Come on by! During Open Studio time you are free to drop in, use our space and materials and explore the process of creating.
We also offer art classes, birthday parties and field trips to our studio!
