Upcoming Community Events/News
Ongoing Tuesday Little Artists Class
Every Tuesday morning from 9:30am-10:30am
$15 per student (Ages 2-5)
Join us every Tuesday morning as we explore art, movement, yoga, and
dance with our Little Artists!
Nature Study and Design Workshop
Thursday, February 18th. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave.
Students will choose an object from a collection of items found around
Honolulu. They will use chalk pastels and will study the details of
the object chosen.
Paint the Rainbow!
Sunday, February 21st. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Young artists will be starting out by making abstract, resist rainbow
paintings. They will also get to create spin art rainbows while
learning about color mixing and theory in the process . Finally, they
will create a rainbow explosion!
2-D Felting
Thursday, February 25th. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Students will learn how to design and create their name in fiber. They
will be learning the basic fundamentals of felting by use of a felting
needle and dyed wool.
Sewing: Heart Strung Garlands
Sunday, February 28th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up. Ages 5-7 must be accompanied by a
participating parent)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
We will teach you the basics of using a sewing machine and then you
can try your hands at working it. We have lots of paper to spare but
you may also bring some fun music sheets or a book and we'll create a
few garlands for you to take home.
Homeschool Painting: Still Life Like Cezanne
Thursday, March 3rd. 10am-11:30am
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Together we will arrange a still life, experiment with tempera paint
and create our own fun and colorful paintings inspired by Cezanne.
Doodle Mania
Thursday, March 3rd. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Students will activate their imagination and explore their ideas of
springtime through doodling. Students can work on collaborative and
individual doodles.
Negative Space Pictures
Sunday, March 6th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Students in this workshop will reuse old magazines to create a
background for a picture of their choice. We will learn how to design
and accurately cut out the design to make our final piece.
Sand Art
Thursday, March 10th. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
In this workshop we'll get crafty with colored sand. Join us as we
carefully apply colored sand to design our own works of art.
Self Portrait Sculptures
Sunday, March 13th. 2:30pm-4pm
$25 per student (Ages 5 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
In this workshop students will learn the fundamentals of ceramics and
how to sculpt facial features related to emotions in order to create
their own self-portrait. When their self- portraits are finished each
student will color their piece with underglaze.
Mini Terrariums
Thursday, March 17th. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Join us for making tiny terrariums with goodies from nature. Learn all
about how these living artworks take in heat and light and also make
their own mini water cycle. Plants and containers will be provided,
but feel free to bring in a mini container of your own to use.
Sewing Felt Flower Crowns
Sunday, March 20th. 2:30pm-4pm
$15 per student (Ages 5 and up. Ages 5-7 must be accompanied by a
participating parent)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Let's dress up spring with flower crowns. Learn the basics, cutting,
measuring, and using a sewing machine to create one of these sweet
accessories.
Mixed Media Landscapes
Thursday, March 24th. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
We'll recreate and imagine outdoor scenes that inspire while helping
to malama ‘aina by using recycled materials like plastic bags and
styrofoam.
Wonderland Globes
Thursday, March 31st. 4pm-5:30pm
$15 per student (Ages 7 and up)
At the Art Explorium: 1142 Kokohead Ave
Create your own little wonderland in this fun workshop. We'll be
using found objects and inspiration to create our individual
interpretations of a snow globe.

Art Explorium provides a fun, safe place where children of all ages have the opportunity and the permission to create freely. We firmly believe that art experiences are an important part of every person's growth and development. So... WE provide the space and materials, YOU provide the ideas and make them happen!
Art Explorium strives to be an eco-friendly organization. Many of the art materials in our studio are items that would normally be thrown in the landfill (old pieces of fabric, used bottle caps, small boxes, magazines, ribbon, etc.). We collect these used materials from our friends and local businesses, and Art Explorium visitors give these items a new life as art.
We offer art classes, birthday parties, and field trips to our studio. We also offer Open Studio time - come on in with your family and dabble in one or all of our art stations which offer activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, making mosaics and more. See you there!

Come on by! During Open Studio time you are free to drop in, use our space and materials and explore the process of creating.
We also offer art classes, birthday parties and field trips to our studio!
