Temporary Library Closure for Renovation
Please pardon the noise and inconvenience!
Kaimuki Public Library will be temporarily closed for air conditioning replacement starting Saturday, March 25, 2017 until the project is completed. A re-opening date announcement will be posted on the HSPLS website: librarieshawaii.org.
- All book drops will be closed starting at 4:00 pm on Friday March 24.
- Please return borrowed items to any other public library during the closure.
- If you have pending requests on your account, call or visit any open library to designate an alternate pick up library.
- You may pick up your requested items already on the hold shelf by 4:00 pm. on March 24 or when the library re-opens.
- Parents, please remind your children to stay away from the library and construction site!
- For re-opening information, please call Kaimuki Public Library at 733-8422. Please check the website for locations and hours of nearby public libraries. Thank you for your patience during this building improvement project.
During the library's temporary closure, the Book Cellar bookstore will also be closed.
The library parking lot and grounds will be off limits during the closure. Please do not leave donations of books & magazine during the temporary closure. You may check with other library branches about taking donations or take them to the Friends of the Library warehouse at 99-1132 Iwaena Street, Aiea. Phone 536-4174 to arrange pick up of 10 or more boxes.

Kaimuki Library Closes for AC Replacement Starting March 25
Kaimuki Public Library is scheduled to close beginning Saturday, March 25 for an air-conditioning replacement project. The book drops will also be closed starting Friday, March 24 at 4 p.m. The Friends of Kaimuki Library Bookstore located on the ground level will also be closed for the duration of the project. The library is scheduled to reopen sometime in May; an announcement will be posted on the HSPLS website (www.librarieshawaii.org) when the specific date is determined.
Anyone who needs library services during the closure is encouraged to visit any of the other 23 branches on Oahu. Books and other materials borrowed at Kaimuki may be returned at any other branch. Book donations will not be accepted during this time period, so please contact another branch library or the Friends of the Library of Hawaii warehouse (99-1132 Iwaena St.; ph. 536-4174) for information on making donations.
We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to again serving the Kaimuki community when the project is complete.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.
