Below are our upcoming programs for the month of September 2017.
1. Happy Honu - Paint Party
Turtle Power!
The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, or Honu, is well known in Hawaii. And we totally understand! It's such a beautiful and amazing animal.
Make a honu painting with us and learn about this awesome ocean animal. Our instructor will give you some pointers on how to start, and then you can continue painting your own turtle design.
Where: Living Art Marine Center

Cost: $10-25 per canvas

2. Mini Aquaponics - Family Program
Aquaponics is an amazing and sustainable way to grow fish and plants in the same system. It works because the fish provide waste as plant fertilizer, and the plants clean the water.
The best part of this workshop? You'll get to make your own mini aquaponics system with plants to grow and actual fish to take home.
Where: Living Art Marine Center

Cost: $25 per aquaponics kit made

3. Opae Ula - Hawaiian Super Shrimp Family Workshop
Learn more about this amazing Hawaiian shrimp and make your own customized pet shrimp aquarium.
This month's theme: Spongebob! Use a cute Spongebob figurine to decorate your aquarium with.

When: Saturday August 26, 4:30 p.m.
Saturday September 30, 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $25 per shrimp aquarium.*

4. Super Squid Dissection
Dissection is an important part of science discovery that can help us better understand how life works. Professor Tako's students will dissect their own super squid, learn about this animal, and touch tide pool animals.
These squid are huge! Bring your mom or dad to help out!

Cost: $10.00 (child), $7.50 (adult) + $5 lab fee

5. Splash Tour - Tropical Fish Aquarium Tour
Love tropical fish? We have the program for you!
Whether you've never visited us, or you come once a month, there is always something new and interested to see and do at the Living Art Marine Center. Tag along with a special reduced admission tour of our tropical fish aquariums, make a fish print on paper, and touch tide pool animals.

When: Monday September 4, 10:00 a.m. Labor Day
Cost: $7.50 (child), $7.50 (adult)

5. Ocean Craft Day - open studio
Are you the artistic type? Do you like to make ocean themed crafts? Or do you simply want to learn how to? Then the Ocean Craft Day is right for you!
Choice of craft activities are: T-shirt designing, shell carving, Air Plant Garden, and shell necklace making.
Where: Living Art Marine Center

When: Saturday September 2 10 - 12 p.m.
Saturday September 16 10 - 12 p.m.
Cost: $8 and up, varies per craft
Program duration: varies per craft
Reservations: highly recommended, walk-ins accepted till 11:30 a.m.
