STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSURES

Update - 8_25_18_3-06PM All public library branches across the state will remain closed Saturday, August 25th. Weather permitting, our Sunday library branches: Kaimuki, Kaneohe, and Pearl City will be open Sunday, August 26, 2018 for their normal hours of operation. Please check the library website for locations and hours at www.librarieshawaii.org.

At this time, we intend to have all public libraries resume their normal public service schedule starting Monday, August 27, 2018. Staff will be assessing the condition of library facilities and if necessary, public service hours for libraries may be temporarily affected to ensure the safety of our employees. Updates on public service hours will continue to be posted on our website until all libraries resume normal public service hours.

Fines for books and materials due during the closure period will be waived. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Due to the potential impact of Hurricane Lane, the Hawaii State Public Library System announces the following closures and cancellations:

Hawaii and Maui Counties: All public libraries are closed Wednesday, August 22 to Friday, August 24, 2018. All library programs are cancelled through Sunday, August 26, 2018.

Oahu and Kauai Counties: All public libraries are closed Thursday, August 23 to Friday, August 24, 2018. All library programs are cancelled through Sunday, August 26, 2018.

Fines for books and materials due during the closure period will be waived. Updates on the re-opening of library branches will be announced through the media and posted on our website: librarieshawaii.org

About Kaimuki Public Library

The mission of the Hawaii State Public Library System is to provide Hawaii's residents, in all walks of life, and at each stage of their lives, with access to education, information, programs and services, and to teach and nurture the love of reading and the habit of life-long learning.

Sun - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Mon - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Tues - 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Wed. - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Thurs.- 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Fri- 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Sat & State Holidays - Closed

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.
