Hundreds of residents book Saturday driver license and ID appointments
More than 700 O‘ahu residents have benefitted this month from the city's Saturday hours aimed at meeting the growing demand to renew a driver license or state identification card.
The temporary service has been available by appointment only from 8 a.m. to noon at four select locations:
- Kapālama Driver Licensing Center
- Kapolei Driver Licensing Center
- Wahiawā Driver Licensing Center
- Commercial Driver Licensing in Pearl City
"We encourage residents to gather all required documents into a single folder before going to an appointment," said Customer Services Director Sheri Kajiwara. "It's also important to remember to bring the completed application form for a driver license or state ID to the scheduled appointment."
Residents are reminded to cancel appointments they cannot keep or do not need to open up bookings for others.
A document guide and forms can be found at honolulu.gov/csd. No road or written driver tests or CDL services are offered on Saturdays.
Depending on the availability of funds, the city hopes to extend Saturday hours through the summer. Residents are encouraged to view the AlohaQ.org website for appointment openings and updates. Available appointment slots were recently extended to six months, offering 400 additional openings per day.
