Kaimukī Youth Development Organization to clean Koali Road

HONOLULU – On Saturday, September 4, 2021, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., members of the Kaimukī Youth Development Organization (KYDO) remove overgrown vegetation and litter along Koali Road, between Wai‘alae Avenue and the ewa end of Kānewai Community Park. These volunteers will perform the work under the coordination of the city’s Mālama O Ka ‘Āina (MOKA) community volunteer program, which is administered by the Department of Facility Maintenance’s (DFM) Division of Road Maintenance (DRM).

The city is grateful to the KYDO volunteers, which will include both youth and adult members, for giving their time, energy and resources to do this project. KYDO’s efforts will provide a much needed service, by creating a safer and more pleasant environment for the many people who commute and live on Koali Road. Support for this project is also being provided by the office of Honolulu City Councilmember Calvin Say, the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation, and

DFM’s Storm Water Quality Division.
Due to present COVID-19 restrictions, the number of participants is being restricted to no more than 25 and safety protocols will be followed.
To find out more about volunteer opportunities, please call DRM at (808) 768-3606.
