McCully-Moiliili Public Library Reopens June 3rd

HONOLULU -- The Hawaii State Public Library System's McCully-Moiliili Public Library will reopen on Friday, June 3rd.

Over 50 years old, the McCully-Moiliili Public Library is an important community library that needed repairs and renovations to ensure the health and viability of the building. During the pandemic, we were able to address some long-standing repairs, refresh the layout of the library, and initiate plans for future exterior improvements. Completed work included:

• Replace roof
• Install rooftop PV system
• Repair water damage throughout the library
• Improvements in the community meeting room
• Improved lighting and refurbished flooring throughout the library
• New circulation desk and front lobby area to improve public services
• Improved children's area with interactive space
• Improved signage

Future planned exterior improvements:

• Exterior painting
• Parking lot repaving and new lighting
• Irrigation and landscaping improvements
• Exterior security to include cameras, lighting and fencing

Support for this repair and renovation project was provided by Governor David Y. Ige and the Hawaii State Legislature through $1.75 million in Capital Improvements Project (CIP) funding and $250,000 in General Funds.

McCully-Moiliili Public Library is located at 2211 South King Street. The library will be open to the public:

Tuesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Patrons can also enjoy virtual access to library resources. The HSPLS digital doors are always open at librarieshawaii.org. With just a library card you can download ebooks, stream movies, learn a language, read The New York Times and more!
