Sensitive Places posters available to the public online and at various City facilities
HONOLULU -- Private business owners who are interested in displaying signage related to Bill 57 (Ordinance 23-6), the sensitive places law regarding firearms that goes into effect next week, can now download and display signs announcing to the public whether or not firearms are allowed on their premises, Mayor Rick Blangiardi announced Tuesday.
Private businesses and charitable establishments that do not wish to allow firearms on their premises are not required to display signs and do not need to take any action. Signs that read "Guns Not Allowed" are available for download at https://www.oneoahu.org/sensitive-places and can still be printed and posted by interested business owners, even though no action is needed.
Business entities who choose to allow firearms on their property are required to post a "Guns Allowed" sign. Signs can be downloaded at the link listed below, or picked up, free of charge, at Honolulu Hale and all Satellite City Locations except for the Downtown Honolulu location.
For businesses with a physical door through which customers enter, the sign must be 8.5 inches by 11 inches, or the size of standard office paper. According to the law, the sign must be placed not less than 40 inches and not more than 60 inches from the bottom of the premises entrance door. For businesses that do not have a physical door through which customers enter, the sign must be 18 inches by 24 inches.
