New Exhibit: “Fear of the Unknown”

“Fear of the Unknown”
Opens Friday, July 7, 2023. The exhibit explores enigmatic artworks from the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA).

Museum visitors are invited to contemplate 34 artworks by 28 artists in the ʻEwa gallery (second floor). Exhibit will be open at 10:00 a.m., artist reception 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. during First Friday.

Producer Showcase  & Live Performance by Castle Park

Hawaiʻi State Art Museum and SlappGood presents a unique, live “Producer Showcase” experience. Several established & upcoming producers will be on stage simultaneously, playing exclusive beats & songs to a live audience. SlappGood allows us to put the “name to the face” of the music producers producing some of our favorite records. Join us to hear never-before-heard beats from the Pacific's most skilled music producers:
Bimwala - 3x Grammy Nominated Producer
Ohtoro - Multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winner
DJ Jrama - Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award Winner
BooksDaOne - Most tagged producer to participate
MaddMatt - Producer from Las Vegas
Castle Park is a music group consisting of five members who were all born and raised in Hawaiʻi. All have different backgrounds when it comes to music, ranging from punk rock, alternative, to drum and bass. The main ingredient and foundation of the band is hip hop and they have been involved in the local hip-hop scene as well as the punk rock scene. To date, Castle Park has released two EPs and three music videos. They are currently working on their third EP which is due out later this year.

he Hawai'i State Art Museum is dedicated to presenting the largest and finest collection of works by Hawai'i artists that celebrate the diverse artistic and cultural legacy of Hawai'i.

OUR MISSION
To promote, perpetuate, preserve and encourage culture and the arts, history and the humanities as central to the quality of life of the people of Hawai`i. HSFCA funding is provided by the State of Hawai`i and the National Endowment for the Arts. The HSFCA is administratively attached to the Department of Accounting and General Services.

HOURS:
The musuem is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed State and Federal Holdays. Always free admission. For pre-recorded information call 586-0900.
