• Safety Tip: Pedestrian Safety -- When preparing to cross the street, do not assume that because you can see the vehicle, the vehicle can see you. It is far safer to assume the driver does not see you. Make eye contact. Do not focus on where you are walking but on the traffic around you as you walk. When a pedestrian traffic light turns green, wait for a few moments and look for the vehicles attempting to turn. Make eye contact before steeping off the curb into the road. Be careful of vehicles turning right on red signals or within an intersection. Drivers may be busy looking out for other vehicles instead of pedestrians.
