Welcome Back To School ALOHA, and welcome back to a New School
Year!
To help with some of these adjustments here are a few
tips from, “The Parent Institute” to help make these changes a
little easier:
As a parent you might have other questions
about school uniforms and what your child should and should not bring to school.
Here are some answers.
There is an order form for uniforms that was included in
the first day packet. If you do not have the order form for the uniform, stop
by the office and we will give you another order form. Office hours are 7:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Uniforms are recommended wear for each school day from
Monday through Thursday. On Fridays students can wear appropriate attire of
their own choice. See ‘Parents Handbook’ for further information.
It should be mentioned that many families discover that they should purchase
more than one uniform shirt. Even two shirts did not make it over the school
year and it is better to have at least one clean shirt in reserve for emergency
purposes.
Electronic games, cellular phones, toys, and pagers are
considered contraband in the classrooms. If your child must bring a
pager or cell phone to school, the item should stay in their backpack until
after school when they can check for messages. If pager or phone rings in
class, it will be taken away by the teacher.
Do not give your child large amount of money to bring to
school. Unless it is totally necessary and unavoidable that they must have this
money for use after school, then come to the office and we will hold it for them
until school ends. They must remember to pick up their money. Please be aware
that if your child loses or thinks the money was stolen, there probably will be
no way of finding it unless someone witnessed this theft. School personnel
cannot and will not look through all other student’s belongings in the
hope of finding the money or other personal items.
The A+ after school program is on campus and is run by
the Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA. If you would like to sign your child up, please come
by the office for an application or call the Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA at 737-5544
for additional information.
If there are any other questions that you feel needs to
be answered that is not covered in the ‘Parent Handbook’, feel free
to call the office. Communication between the child, teacher, parents, and
school is essential if we hope to make your child school experience rewarding,
beneficial, and a stepping stone to higher education.
By working together we can and will bring to fruition
our school vision, “Queen Lili‘uokalani School is a creative,
caring, and supportive community where learning blossoms.” The ultimate
beneficiary of this collaboration and cooperation will be all our
students.
